Minister of Transportation, Rotimi Amaechi has said that the Abuja-kaduna railway e-ticket platform is a product of Public Private Partnership between the Federal Government and TPS Solutions.
Speaking Thursday during a virtual launch of the e-ticketing platforms, the Minister thanked President Muhammadu Buhari whom he said his support made the project a reality.
He disclosed that the platforms which will be available at all stations on the Abuja-Kaduna railway, cost the investor a whopping sum of N900 million to deploy, adding that the deployment of the platforms marks the automation of all the stations on the Abuja-Kaduna railway.
According to him, the deployment of the platforms is the product of a programme started three years ago by the Federal Government to make ticket purchase across all the stations on the Abuja-Kaduna railway simpler, faster and more convenient to the traveler.
Making further explanations about the new e-ticket platforms, Managing Director of Nigerian Railway Corporation (NRC), Engr. Fidet Okhiria warned that there won’t be bulk purchase of tickets, even as the ticket is not transferable. This he explained is because the customer only gets the ticket with his/her acceptable modes identification in the country like National Identity Card, Voter’s Card etc. One of the three platforms one can get one’s ticket is ww.nrc.tps.ng.
Okhira assured that the management of NRC would increase the number of trips on the route from eight to fourteen. “We actually want to ensure that there is a trip every on one hour on the route,” he said
